I have followed-up on your instructions and got the three credit reports. After I contacted the reporting bureaus with the discrepancies, and contacting the institutions/negative listings to get the eroneous info corrected, I got the discrepancies deleted from my credit reports. (a previous address was used for a business that I had nothing to do with, I thought I was signing-up for frequent-flyer miles with AirTran and was issued a credit card and was charged fees, for a card I never applied for, activated or used, and a cell phone in Puerto Rico I never applied for or ever used.)My one credit card(BofA) has canceled me, saying I dont meet their criteria? Is charging me 26.4% interest and will not lower the rate even though I have never missed a payment. I'm living off SS disability and making minimum payments with a balance of 38 hundred. How do I negotiate a settlement with them to put an end to this, because at this rate I will be paying forever. This is the only issue I am dealing with, since I have no other cc and no other debts? Today the new credit card changes go into effect, how will this affect me?

Thanks for the follow-up and it's good to hear that my instructions have helped.
Have you purchased the book?
I'm still reading the new credit card laws, so I can not give a specific answer to how it may play a role in your situation. There may also be other state residence issues specific to your situation.
I would suggest contacting BOA customer service and speak to a representative about your lengthy commitment to using BOA products (credit card) and ask if your account interest rate can be lowered. They may have based their decision to increase your rate from the data referencing your fraudulent accounts. If you have received revised reports from each separate bureau displaying each fraudulent account removed, ask the BOA representative if you could forward it for account re-evaluation. Fax it to them if necessary. You may also have to create a police report with your local precinct (for the record) about this ID theft problem. Ask BOA if filing an ID theft police report with your local police precinct will assist in validating your claim and commitment to improving your credit.
The BOA representative may have details about how the new laws apply to residents in your state.
Let me know.
